Hiatus

I took an unplanned hiatus. At some point in the late winter and early spring, I stopped riding the bus and I started being busy with the house. I haven’t had a chance to sit down and sort out my thoughts. Now, I have a moment, as I wait for Ellie to wake up and we can get ready for a wedding in the Minneapolis area. Biking

So we are closing on the house next week and then moving in a week later. At that point, I’ll have a 6 mile bike ride to work or a 45 minute bus ride, with a transfer. I’m going to opt for the bike ride. I’ve biked year round before, when I worked for the UW Arboretum and it was a five mile bike ride to and from work. The distance doesn’t bother me, the roads do. Bus Stop

Last night, I was waiting for the bus at my usual stop on the capital square and I smelled something funny. I saw some people smoking inside the bus stop, a general no-no but people do it anyway. It smelled off, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed it was just a cheap cigar. Then I saw how they were holding it and passing it. Then I did a double take on the smell. Walking Home

As the winter gets colder, snowier, more icy, and just downright unbearable, it seems the busses in Madison get less reliable. The bus to work is usually on time, but after work I rarely take the bus these days.  I still leave work at 5:02 and head over to the bus stop.
