High School – Roll 1

Blog, Photography / Thursday, November 30th, 2023

The photos below are the first roll of film I shot in high school photography class. If I remember correctly, the assignment was just to take a roll and figure out how to use the camera.

Speaking of the camera, I believe this was the only roll I shot on it. We had a week or two of instruction before we were given cameras. There was a quiz at the end of the instruction and the cameras were doled out based on highest score down to the lowest score. I scored the highest, so I was given the new camera bought that year.

I only used it for this roll because I thought it would be cooler to use my mom’s old Kodak Retina Reflex S (it was). So I ended up sitting on the best camera in class and using a fifty-year-old, built like a tank camera.

Since I have a binder full of my negatives and I’ve been enjoying taking more photos this year, I figured it it only makes sense to scan them in and start sharing them. So, please expect more rolls of film. I’m going to do my best to keep the adjustments to the photos as minor as I can. I know editing photos is important and great photos aren’t just taken, but honestly I’m just not good at editing photos and all attempts to date seem to just make the photos look worse.
