A Nightmare Come True

Peace Corps / Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

The past few days have been kind of depressing. I’m not depressed, not that I’m aware of but I’ve been a little blue. Want to know why?

Remember Fat Sandwich Dreaming? This was the sandwich shop in Madison, WI where I would get sandwiches that were close to deadly. I was also having nightmares about this place. Sometimes I would try to order my usual, the Fat Magnum, only to find they’ve changed the menu. Other times, I’d have nightmares that the shop wouldn’t be there when I got back. The latter came true.

Fat Magnum Sandwich
The dearly departed. This was a Fat Magnum. It had two cheeseburgers, a fried egg, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, bacon, fries, ketchup, and mayo all on an Amoroso roll. Heaven.

It’s not surprising that the shop closed down. It’s really a niche restaurant for fatties and overactive metabolism people like me. Fortunately, there’s still one of these in Champaign, IL. When I get home at the end of the year, I’m taking a road trip to have one last sandwich before this place is no more.

Also, now that I think about it, I’m going to save a copy of the menu (if I can find it) (mission success, it can be found here in the event Fat Sandwich crumbles) so I can recreate the masterpieces in the event that something goes wrong. Horribly, horribly wrong (though right if you’re looking at this from the standpoint of a nutritionist).
