November – Day 8

Blog / Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

I mentioned yesterday that I’d be having more writing coming my way later this month. I had looked ahead and saw that I’d be starting a journal as part of m 30 Day Challenge. Little did I know, I hadn’t realized that today would be the day I was to start a journal. My increase in writing has begun.

I considered considering this blog my journal, but I didn’t for a few reasons. I’m supposed to write every day, it’s part of the challenge. This month will be the only month where I write every day on my blog. It’s difficult to come up with something to write and then write it everyday. At least, something worth writing about. A personal journal, however, has no requirements of being interesting. I like that. Also, I filter what I say on a blog. It comes naturally these days. I don’t want to offend people of give away too much information on subjects I feel like people don’t need to know about. A personal journal is private and I can turn that filter off, which is something I need to work on doing.

Either way, I wrote my first journal entry today since the drunken night of January 30th, 2011. This was part of the reason I stopped writing in it. I was afraid to see what I had written when the filter was completely off.

I decided to cut back a bit today with my novel-writing because I want to get some extra sleep tonight. I’ve only written 1,761 words today but I’m still ahead over two days of where I should be at this point. It’s still coming out freely. I had a nice bit of dialog today. I can’t wait to rework whatever train wreck it might be.

On a similar note, I’m going to write through an entire 96 page spiral bound graphing notebook for this story. Currently I’m only writing on one side of the page, but when I reach the end I’m going to flip the notebook and write from back to front.

I took some of the duck broth I made yesterday and made a huge pot of onion and mushroom soup for dinner tomorrow. It’s one of my favorite dishes when it’s cold out because it’s cheap, hot and easy to make. It also feeds me for several days.

And finally, I defrosted my freezer last night. It was getting difficult to hold frozen items. Now I can fit a lot more in it than I could yesterday.
