Friday update

Blog / Friday, October 2nd, 2009

It’s October and my Fall schedule seems to be in full swing. I may only be taking 12 credits this semester (harvesting the fruit of previous semesters) but I seem to be running everywhere. I have my two jobs and my blogging internship. In addition to keeping relations alive, furthering them and creating new ones. Oh, and keeping up with television. Come December, I think I will be mentally and physically exhausted.

I want to take the entirety of Winter Break off, but I have a feeling that it won’t be the case. There are plans in the works of me visiting some friends out East (and I presume this will take place over the break considering they go to school with me). We’ll see. Plus, I have a bit of an addiction to working, and money.

A friend of mine inquired about the Kawasaki the other day. I informed her where I was at with the project. She asked me if it was closer to running. I told her, because I took the engine apart it is much farther from running. Even if I took it apart and put it back together, the bike would be farther from running than when I started. That’s the case when you don’t know what you are doing. But, I did buy some shiny new tools to work with. I needed some new sockets, feeler gauges and a compression tester. I can’t wait to use them all.

It’s almost time for the new blog to go live. We’re set to go live at 4:45pm October 13. I have my post written and I just need to make a few edits. You can be sure that I will post the link here and all over the web once I have it.

I had a lot of trouble figuring out a way to write my posts where I didn’t bore myself. I was picked to blog from the perspective of an English major and I will be blogging about writing. I am trying to share the knowledge that I have learned with the prospective freshmen. I want to say things like “don’t plagiarize” and “if you want to write something good, write as much as you can and you eventually will” but I can only seem to do this in my academic voice. Fortunately, I found a solution.

A block of text for the new blog wasn’t working. I needed to be creative. Fortunately the woman in charge of the program encourages creativity. I thought I would have a friend help me. You should know him; he and a few others call himself Georgie. He will be a habitual character and voice on my new blog, I just wish I could convince the webmaster to set up the blog for the two of us together, and not just me.

That being said, if you wish to hear what I have to say about improving your writing, be sure to read my new blog. Also, if you have things you would like to suggest other people know about writing, drop me a line and I will see what I can do about including them.

One final note, cold weather is approaching. Considering that I bike five miles to and from work each day, this is big. I’m worried about what I will do once there is snow. I ride a fixed gear with road tires. Meant for smooth, dry ground. So should I A) replace my current wheels with mountain bike wheels B) convert my current tires into snow tires using some screws and nuts or C) do both? I’m leaning towards C but I am afraid that my mountain bike wheels won’t fit in my fixed gear frame.
