I hate Charter

At school, the only option for internet off campus is Charter. Here is the conversation I had with them when trying to setup an installation.

Thank you for choosing Charter Chat Live! A Customer Care representative

from Sales Support will be with you shortly.

You have been connected to CVW Joey .

dxxxxx zxxxxxx: Hello

CVW Joey : My name is Joey. Thank you for contacting Charter Communications. How may I assist you today?

dxxxxx zxxxxxx: I would like to set up an installation appointment

CVW Joey : I can definitely set up an installation date for you today. Afterwards I would like to ask a few quick questions to make sure the services we are providing you are meeting your needs. May I please have your full name, address including zip code and phone number?

dxxxxx zxxxxxx: Dxxxxx Zxxxxxx ### N Pxxxxxx St Apt. ### Mxxxx, XX ##### ###-###-####

CVW Joey : I apologize but there is an active account at that address. You will have to wait until they cancel their services

dxxxxx zxxxxxx: Why?

CVW Joey : Because there is an active account at that address

dxxxxx zxxxxxx: I understand that, I would like to set up an appointment for after I move into the apartment.

CVW Joey : I apologize but you cannot do that until they set up a date of cancellation

dxxxxx zxxxxxx: But I know when I will be moving in, so why can’t I do it?

CVW Joey : Because there is an active account at that address

dxxxxx zxxxxxx: Stop giving me the preformatted responses and type something you moron

CVW Joey : Daniel, I don’t appreciate being called names, I apologize if you don’t understand what I am stating. When there is an active account at the address we cannot set up a new account until there is a disconnection date

CVW Joey : Also, it isn’t preformatted, I type all my answers out myself

dxxxxx zxxxxxx: Oh no I completely understand what you are saying. How about I tell you that I will be moving in on the 15th of August meaning that the previous renters will be moved out and we can set up a date after that

CVW Joey : I apologize but that isn’t possible until the current account holder calls to cancel service

dxxxxx zxxxxxx: Whatever

dxxxxx zxxxxxx: you realize that this means war

CVW Joey : Okay?

dxxxxx zxxxxxx: Yeah, as expected Charter is of no help.

CVW Joey : I apologize if I cannot assist you but you will have to wait until they cancel

CVW Joey : Is there anything else I can assist you with today?

dxxxxx zxxxxxx: No

Needless to say, this has been my first personal interaction with Charter and I HATE THEM SO MUCH!

  1. Yeah… I did some comparisons, just because I was curious… AT&T is a way better deal, price-wise, for basic services. After the intro rate for Charter is gone, the prices for each individual service (phone, internet, TV) goes up about fifteen bucks, and if you end up bundling stuff, it gets pretty pricey pretty fast. The plus-side with Charter is cable internet, instead of DSL (although our internet speed here is absolutely no different than my cable at home) and you get cable TV, instead of Dish with AT&T. But I guess if you like Dish network, then it doesn’t matter. The 100 channel programming option with AT&T is cheaper than Charter’s basic cable (70 channels) anyways.

  2. I don’t handle the bills and stuff, so I don’t know details, but yeah, we have AT&T phone service and wireless. Not cable, but I think you can do that through AT&T, too. Maybe. You should call them or something. See what you can find. It’s better than Charter.
