Working on myself

A couple of days ago I mentioned that I’ll be taking 30 Days to be a Better Man. I plan on following this through to the best of my ability in Ukraine (clearly I’ll have a little more trouble finding someone to give me a straight razor shave here than in the States). I’ll also try to keep things updated on here with my progress. November will be a busy month.

I mentioned to friend recently that if Peace Corps is nothing, at least you have the time to work on self-development. I didn’t think to keep track of the amount of time I spend meditating on every aspect of life while in Peace Corps, and if I did I doubt I could count that high. In Peace Corps, I meditate a lot.

I loved to cook and eat before Peace Corps, but I seem to love it more now. I like create things with food, though it usually boils down to mush loaded with garlic. I have more time to cook and access to fresh out of the ground ingredients. I recently picked up a cook book to help me with ideas. In Peace Corps, I cook a lot.

There are other aspects of my life that I work on too. It’s fun working by myself, but I’m looking forward to following a guide. I doubt I’ll be able to follow through with all of them, but it isn’t the point as a friend of mine reminds me. The point is to try. This isn’t the end all source of being the perfect man. It’s a handful of steps.

So, if you’re interested in my progress of self-improvement, come back in November for, hopefully, daily updates.
