I wrote a sonnet yesterday. It isn’t very good, but it is my firt one. I am going to try and write one a week. To get good at them, you know? I will try and post them here.
The first one goes a little like this:
I know not how to write perfect sonnets,
My meter is off, and my rhyme is poor.
Nor is this a topic typical prose.
I will, however, try my best to do it.
A sonnet will oft speak of things like love
But this scribe knows not of amourous beings,
No creatures with the wonderous grace of doves
Nor had a chance to experience some flings.
My reason for writing is quite diff’rent.
In part to avoid doing other work,
And part to be with a document sent,
And be on class of writing door a knock.
Two more lines on this paper need be writ,
If only the content had some more wit.
It isn’t very good, but oh well. I am not a poet.
Also, a friend informed me that this month is National Novel Writing Month, or something like that. I am going to attempt to write one. It doesn’t need to be good I was told. For some reason that motivates me a little more. I might post it here in some way shape or form.
