Soups, Good and Bad

I’ve never been great at making soup. I either need to follow a recipe or just give up before I start. There’s something about the free-form idea of soup that I cannot wrap my mind around. I hear that I can put anything in a soup and make it good, and my mind goes blank. I can only think of the soups I’ve had before and try to replicate them. But since I’m not really knowing what I’m doing, some step gets missed here or Continue reading →

A Perfect Dinner

Tonight, my creativity came easily. Tonight, I made pasta. My favorite, go-to dish which can be made in a pinch is pasta and Italian sausage. It’s one of those dishes I can put together without really thinking about what I’m doing. The ingredients are readily available and ready ahead of time. In a perfect world, I’ll eat it once a week. So why does a prepped in advance dinner make me feel creative? Maybe creative isn’t the right word, maybe it’s just it makes me Continue reading →

Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day to you all! For those of you who have someone to celebrate with, enjoy your day together. For those of you who do not have someone to share it with, enjoy the day with yourself. Either way, treat yourself to a nice dinner. Ellie and I will be staying in tonight and cooking steaks. That’s all the fanfare I need.

Dinner Last Night

Wasn’t great. Sometimes, I get a great idea of what to make for dinner but the execution ends up being off for some reason or another. Last night, I made a coconut chicken curry soup. I thought no it could have been good, but I used cream of coconut instead of coconut milk. The cream of coconut, apparently, is really sweet. Like, coconut flavored syrup sweet. I didn’t realize this until after I put the whole can in. Had I not done that, I could Continue reading →

Daydreaming

Sometimes I wonder if I really missed my calling in life. Most of my day is centered around emailing and de elopement and other tech related things but my mind wanders to what I’m cooking for dinner. Like a ton of my resting mind thinks about food. Yesterday a co-worker of mine mentioned she tried making pasties only to be thwarted by her husband not wanted the calories in the dough. I then decided to make those for dinner instead of whatever I would have Continue reading →

An Octopus in the Mouth

We both read the menu and it said, “Baby Octopuses” but neither of us thought they’d actually be whole, baby octopuses. She had a few, and I ended up eating most of them. We both struggled with the idea of putting a whole octopus in our mouths. I forced myself to struggle less because I didn’t want them to die in vain. Side Continue reading →
