Someday, I just really feel like getting things done. Last night was one of those nights. Granted, we did huddle under blankets and watch the office for a while because it’s cold out and our apartment is cold, but I did manage to get a few items checked off my list.

I had ordered a few things recently, one of which is a locking mechanism for my monitor cable. The cats like to walk behind the computer on the cables and one of the monitors is constantly being unplugged by them. So I found a decide to lock it and installed it last night. Hopefully, it works.

I also added a handle to my tobacco press. The lid was sliding in as intended but getting it out was a little difficult because of glue drips I haven’t had a chance to clean up yet. Even if I do, the lid will still be hard to get out. So, I chopped off a piece of scrap wood and glued it in place. But I’m noticing, with my hand tools and not a proper workshop, is that what I build is very crude right now. I don’t have the space or equipment for nice clean edges and joins. Someday.

While I was working on the lid for the press, I also took some time to start sanding down the edges. I may have done a crude job, but that doesn’t mean I can’t clean it up into something presentable. Even so, this isn’t a display piece so anything I end up doing will only be for me.

So maybe I only did two or three things last night, but they gave me enough of a feeling of accomplishment and they were just cleaning or cooking tasks. They were extra things I didn’t need to do so they felt good.
