November – Day 2

Two days in and I’m already feeling like a better man with the hint of a mustache and withdrawal pains while I’m drawing out my novel on paper.

Today’s 30 Day Challenge is to shine my shoes. Everyday I wear my shoes to school and I have to trek 25 minutes each way over uneven and dirty Ukrainian sidewalks. I stumble and I kick up dust. My shoes deserve a cleaning. To be honest, I looked ahead and saw this one one of the challenge days, so I neglected to clean my shoes when they really could have used it.

I went a bit above and beyond by washing them with Space Edition vodka to clean the dirt and old polish off. I didn’t have rubbing alcohol so I had to improvise. After that, I applied a nice, hefty coat of Kiwi mink oil and on top of that I rubbed in some polish. I let that dry before buffing them to a shine. Here’s the result:

Ignore the inside backs of the shoes, they get a lot of mileage. I don’t think they turned out too poorly.

On the NaNoWriMo front, my novel is coming along quite well. I feel like I’m rambling at times but at this point it doesn’t matter, I’m just working for the word count and I can edit after the fact. Current progress is 3,776 words and after two days of even writing I should be at 3,334 words. I may do a little more writing tonight before I turn in.

Come back tomorrow for some more updates.
