Teacher’s Day

First day back at school after my vacation. The two teachers told me that I didn’t have to teach today. Only one of them informed me it was because of the holiday. I’ll assume the other wanted me to rest after vacation. Works for me. One of those teachers asked if I got married on my vacation. I told her I didn’t, with a smile. She informed me that it was best if I married a Ukrainian girl. She recommended one from my 10th grade Continue reading →

Kindle Fire

Maybe Amazon read my post, The high-end Kindle, maybe they didn’t. However, the news has been confirmed by Amazon that they are going to start selling a few new Kindles. I wish I had a reason to replace my Kindle 3 because these new ones look like a treat. The Kindle comes in 3.5 new varieties (the Kindle Touch has a 3G option). The new Kindles are the Kindle Fire, the Kindle Touch, and the Kindle (the Kindle 3 has been renamed “Kindle Keyboard”). The new Continue reading →

HIMYM: The Best Man & The Naked Truth

While I may have missed the live debut of the first two episodes of season 7 of How I Met Your Mother because I was at the Cubs game last night, I have since had a chance to sit down and watch them. I can honestly say that I’m glad to have the show back and this season looks like it will be one of my favorites. If you haven’t seen the episodes yet, you really should go and see them (they can be found Continue reading →

When The Office should have ended

I’ve been watching The Office since the first season. I think I came home from a soccer game and turned it on to watch the first ever televised Dundies. I’ve stuck with it through thick and thin, even when seasons didn’t live up to par. It’s easy to agree that I’m a fan of the show. I have a bit of a beef with the most recent season. For those of you who are unaware of the events of the seventh season, this post will contain Continue reading →

Second Ukrainian apartment video tour

I finally managed to clean my apartment and take a video tour of it all in the same weekend. For those of you who have been waiting for this, I’m sorry it took me seven months to get it accomplished. For those of you who watched my first tour, fear not because the new tour is only 7:30 minutes long. Now sit back, relax and join me in Ukraine.

Describe America

I’m helping teach Country Studies again this year and I hope to have a little more direction with the lesson plans. However, for my first class I didn’t want to dive into the material right away (partially because I was asked to teach ten minutes before class started and had no time to prepare). Instead, I asked the students a couple of questions to help me get a better idea of what to focus on this year. The first question I asked was: Using a Continue reading →

Captain America

I recently watched Captain America to bring myself up to speed in the world of superheroes and the path to The Avengers. If you’re not aware of who Captain America is, you should be. He’s the reason we won WWII. I’m not making this up, in the Marvel Universe Captain America swayed the tides of war in our favor and allowed us to beat not only the Nazis but also their cult-like subdivision of HYDRA. To think some of us thought it was our not so Continue reading →
