Tougher in Wisconsin

As some of you might know, I ride a fixed gear. I have a 15-tooth cog in the back and a 52-tooth in the front, this gives me a higher top speed. I have drop bars and road tires. My Beacon is a fast little vehicle. To me, riding fixed on a bike is the equivalent of driving a manual transmission in a car. For some reason it feels like you have more control over the vehicle. I use my bike to get me everywhere on campus right now because my motorcycle is at home for the winter.

You also might be aware that one of my jobs is five miles off campus. I work as a web programmer where I add new features to an already functioning website. I enjoy this job a lot, no matter how much I might complain about code not working (that’s at least half of the battle).

And one final thing to consider, I live in Wisconsin. The show on the History Channel called Tougher in Alaska does not phase me. I think a better form of the show would be called Tougher in Wisconsin. In Wisconsin the summers are hot and humid and the winters are the complete opposite.

That being said, it was -5 degrees when I left for work yesterday and the wind chill was about twenty-five below. I took my fixed gear and rode five miles, uphill both ways (seriously) to work. It was cold, but I have had worse.

On a completely unrelated note, the Beta of Google Chrome now supports extensions. They are completely changing how my work is done. Thank you Google.
