It is fundamental

Things are finally settling down around here. I read my last reading for class this afternoon. I then proceeded to clean the apartment (well except the bathroom because that is a task too big to share).

I have three exams and then I am free for the summer. Not free, no it would be wrong to say free. I will be working on The Poster Master’s Website and at the Anthropology Department. I am also taking a summer writing workshop. Not free, but should be enjoyable.

The real intent for my post is to inform you of my tentative reading list for the summer.

Currently the list contains:

  • The Grapes of Wrath – John Steinbeck
  • Calvin and Hobbes 10th Anniversary – Bill Waterson
  • Animal Farm – George Orwell
  • The Great Gatsby – F. Scott Fitzgerald
  • Lord of the Flies – William Golding
  • Jane Eyre – Charlotte Bronte
  • The Sight Chain Chronicles Book One: White – Edward J. Malin
  • The Bible – Dead Guys

That isn’t necessarily the order I will read them in, but you get the idea. I think that the Bible will be put towards the end to ensure I complete the rest of the list.

I was quite happy, and dismayed, when I found out that the local Waldenbooks was going out of business. That meant all books were 40% off. I bought most of my reading list that way.

To defend the titles and possibly preempt a few questions/statements, I offer you the following.:

The Grapes of Wrath, I borrowed this from my mom and currently I am in the middle of this one because class made me put it on the back burner.

Calvin and Hobbes, who doesn’t love these two? Plus, it offers some insight into Bill Waterson’s comic creating genius.

Animal Farm will be read to give Orwell a chance to redeem himself (because I thought 1984 sucked).

Lord of the Flies seems to be one of those books everyone read except for me, time to catch up.

The Great Gatsby is here because one of my professors brought it up all the time this semester and that really made me want to read it.

Jane Eyre, two words: Definitely Maybe.

The Sight Chain was given to me today because it sat in an unclaimed mailbox for a year, so I offered to read it and let my supervisor know how it is (apparently it was written by the old mail room guy).

The Bible, I still haven’t read it and I have heard its good.

As always, I take suggestions on books to read, so let me know.

    1. I love Gatsby! I can’t believe you haven’t read it… we did in school. Also, at the time that I read Jane Eyre I enjoyed it, but looking back I can’t remember much, or even know if I would like it if I read it again. And the Grapes of Wrath has been on my list for a while, I just never got around to it. Tell me if it’s good!
