OMG LOL i no rite?

Sadly, that used to be me. I used to write like an asshole. But in my defense, I was in middle school and most likely was an asshole. Plus, everyone else was doing it.

Now I have come a long way since then. I like to think that I write quite well. My sentences are read after I write them to make sure that each one makes sense in the context of my writing. Fortunately for me, my web browser spell checks for me (it is telling me that ‘OMG’ and ‘LOL’ are not words).

I think this is why an English major appeals to me. I have become some sort of grammar Nazi of late. When I see people who use poor grammar or spell things wrong, I cringe. I usually do not say anything to them because I do not want to look like an asshole, a hypocritical asshole too.

That being said, I want to pass along an article that I came upon the other day while trying to find a website spell checker. I like it, so you better like it too.

Strike Out: Reading Unedited Text

Also, this is completely unrelated to the previous line of thoughts, but worth sharing nonetheless. I laughed so hard while reading through it that I will not need to do any ab workouts for a month or cry ever again.

  1. Edit:

And not sure if you got it working in the end, but for software emulated raid array in Ubuntu:

    sudo apt-get install mdadm

  2. I assume that is you Hohf, because you are the only Dan I can think of that would respond with Linux support. Either way, it turns out that the motherboard I was using would not recognize a hard drive over some amount; and since I was wanted a drive roughly 1TB in size the problem would always be there.

If you aren’t Hohf, who are you?

  3. Indeed it is I. What a sad discovery to make; if you partitioned it up, would there still be a problem?

At least you can still get benefit from the drive, as the max read/write speed is higher at the beginning of typical hard drives (not for SSD’s). You could still make a good server!

  4. “I used to right like an asshole.”

I’m not sure if you made a typo, of if you’re trying to be ironic.

    Either way, you made a boo-boo. 🙁
