How do I even apply

I had nothing to do today at work, or rather little to do. In lieu of finding boring tasks I went about the web searching for a place to go for Grad school. If this shocks you, do not be alarmed because you are not alone.

I haven’t really been sure what I am going to do after I graduate. For a while it was Peace Corps as a flat out answer. In truth that is what I really wanted to do. It still is what I wish to do, but I am not sure that now is the best time. Once I strayed from this thought I came upon the idea that I will just get a job and work that while writing in my free time. I still want to do this, but what kind of job does an English major get? Plus, the whole point of me getting a degree in English is so I have some background on what good writers do. I still want to write.

Recently I took a trip back to my parent’s house and had a brief conversation with a neighbor. She asked me if I knew where I was going to Grad school. Not what for, not why, not even if. She assumed that if you received a Bachelor’s you better get your Master’s degree also. Now I am not one to believe that education is the best route for a successful life in our world, but this started me thinking. Maybe I should go to Grad school.

So this morning I looked into it. I searched for the top Master’s degree creative writing programs. I was glad to find out that my current school is third on the list. I found a bunch of others, too, that I wouldn’t mind attending. But then it dawned on me, I do not know what I need to do to get into Grad school other than complete an undergrad degree.

So if you have any idea of what I might need to do and roughly when each of those should be done, let me know. My future might depend on it.

Three side notes:

1. I grilled a peanut butter and jelly sandwich today and I might have fallen in love. If only it was possible to legally marry a sandwich/idea.

2. I sat in a coffee shop, without buying anything, last night for the sole purpose of writing and not being distracted. I am working on a story to enter into a couple writing competitions. I was able to complete a good chunk of it but realized that there are going to be many, many revisions.

3. I may have done some immoral network administrator things last night. I frequently have had slow connections due to other computers on my network. So I logged into my router and set my priority higher than all the others and set the two computers draining network resources to the lowest priority (one of them doesn’t pay for internet so I didn’t feel bad about doing that). Is this so wrong?
