The rider

I learned quite a few things between a span of a few hours today and yesterday.

I had to return to my parents house this week to get a cavity filled and I could not think of a better way of getting home than riding the 10-speed that I put together.

Have I mentioned that I have a motorcycle?

The ride itself was pleasant on the eyes, but not so much on the quads and the buttocks.

It was roughly 50 miles straight of a ride. I came in both there and back in just a little over three hours. Not bad for my first showing, if I do say so myself.

I took joy in the little things while riding. Like downhills. These seemed to be lacking on both the rides up and back but when I came across one it was a beauteous sight.

Also, when a semi drove by me from behind, I would find a bit of joy. One might think that having a multi-ton vehicle come up from behind you would be a little frightening, which it is, but at the same time it isn’t. Semis, assuming they were designed right and going an appropriate speed, would bring an air current with them that would propel me along while at the same time cutting the head and side winds.

During my rides, I did a lot of looking at the trash that people chose to throw out their windows. It worries me. The majority of it was some sort of alcoholic beverage container. The most common was Sparks. Why are people drinking and driving?

I had originally planned to take a similar trip this summer but for longer periods of time and for a week, but now I am not sure I can do it. It takes a lot out of you doing that much exercise when you aren’t used to it. I do not think I have the time to train for such a venture. Also, when I made it to my parents house, I ate three sandwiches and was still hungry. I don’t have the coin to do this for an entire week, at the moment.

Now, I am going to ice my quads and butt. I will see you on the flip side.
