Its why we’re here

My mother always told me not to write anything online when I am angry. I responded, ‘But mother, then what is the internet for?’

Needless to say, I might not be in a good mood.

We’ll start with one that everyone can relate to and then those who can’t or do not want to relate to the other can leave. Sound fair?

Slow drivers. I can’t stand them. It seems like there are more out this year than ever. My mom thinks that it started with people getting used to driving slow this past winter, one that was particularily bad. This makes sense. However, why are there still slow drivers? Usually, to me a slow driver is one that drives at the speed limit. I do a steady five above and like to. But so far this summer I can barely do the speed limit do to people driving so slow. If its you, go faster. I am done with this one.

My other little bit is something that a lot of you won’t relate with. For the past two years of college I have been calling myself a journalism major. Its what I decided to be, and nothing else has had enough appeal for me to change that.

However, where I attend school if you have one bad semester that screws up your GPA you basically have no chance of becoming a Journalism major. For me, this is the case. Second semester Freshman year I took both Into to Psychology and Into to Philosophy. The former is a weed out course where they just try to piss you off so less people want to major in psychology. The latter they grade you on your ability to think like them. Phliosophy I found intensely interesting and thought I understood the material, turns out I didn’t. At the end of the semester I had two Ds do to these courses and it brought my GPA down a full point.

The J-School requires a GPA of at least 2.0, but if you ask anyone they really want a 3.0 or higher. Needless to say I did not fill their unspoken requirements. I applied anyway, twice. Rejected both time. Both times I was sent a form letter stating that they didn’t let in as many students as usual and while GPA is not the most important thing, it is considered.

It just pisses me off that I work hard each semester, but the fact that I had two bad classes ruins it all.

I think I might switch to a creative writing major.
