I read this book in the matter of a few hours. I couldn’t put it down.
Micheal J. Fox has been one of my favorite actors ever since I saw him in Back to the Future. This book proves he can do more than act, he can write.
He tells about how he struggled to make it as an actor and had to rely on a lot of chance to stupid mistakes to get where he is today. His stories are saddening when you realize that people every year go through the same struggles he did and the majority of them don’t make it.
But most importantly, Michael J. Fox talks about how you don’t need a traditional education to become somebody. The skills you will need will be learned when they need to be learned. He tells how he dropped out of high school to pursue his dream of being an actor but he thinks that he learned everything he would have learned in school during his pursuit.
It’s an inspiring message that isn’t common these days. I admire the man and agree with him, you don’t need a traditional education because some things are better learned by doing.
