The One Where I Talk About Television

Just because I stopped trying to write about television, doesn’t mean I stopped watching it. I still follow a slightly unhealthy amount of shows (HIMYM, TBBT, The Office, Modern Family, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, Community, Mad Men, and Game of Thrones). Here are some thoughts I’ve had lately. Has CBS forgotten about Ted? Call me a romantic, but I miss having episodes about him. It’s like Future Ted forgot his own narrative. Try and … Continue reading

Roseanne

Sometimes I do things, regarding television, that just seem stupid to other people. I like to watch a series from the beginning to the end regardless of whether I’m enjoying it or not. For example, Seinfeld. The past couple of months I’ve spent watching all nine seasons of Roseanne. I’ve learned a few things while being entertained. First, a show needs time to prove itself. The characters need to be developed by the actors and … Continue reading

HIMYM – Mystery vs. History

This week’s episode of How I Met You Mother – Mystery vs. History had two great story lines which managed to tie themselves together. For once, this season, I wasn’t dreading the scene change to Marshall and Lily. Ted was back to being his usual, self-destructive dating self. At the beginning of the episode, Ted lands himself a date with a girl he met at the bar, Paula (Amber Stevens). He used a pick up line stating that … Continue reading

Big Bang Theory – The Russian Rocket Reaction

The Big Bang Theory is one of those shows this season which I’ve felt like it’s taken some time to get back in it’s groove. I haven’t felt the story line has been up to par nor have I thought the jokes to be on and nor have I really seen some spectacular acting. but this week’s episode was a throwback story line and it brought back some much needed humor to the show. There’s a … Continue reading

Community – Remedial Chaos Theory

Community came full force this week. Every now and then they have an episode that goes above and beyond the usual methods for storytelling. For example, the two(/three) paintball episodes, the second season Christmas episode, Abed’s birthday, and the Dungeons and Dragons episode. This was one of those episodes. The episode revolves around a housewarming party Troy and Abed throw for themselves now that the two of them have gotten an apartment together. The initial creepiness … Continue reading

The Office – Garden Party

What I’ve noticed The Office to be lacking this season, came back full force in this week’s episode, Garden Party. The show has been missing comedic charm and the back and forth between the characters. It’s almost as though when Steve Carell left The Office, the actors and actresses who had come to know each other and build a rapport among themselves, forgot everything they had learned. They were lost and they started from square one this season. … Continue reading

Modern Family: Hit and Run

I’m a recent convert to Modern Family and I can easily understand why. This show is great, multi-faceted and never in danger of not having something going on. There are some who will tell you that they have issue with all of the dads on the show because they’re typical sitcom dads who’ll screw something up for the sake of the episode, but not me. That’s what I like about this show. I think it’s solely … Continue reading

HIMYM – Field Trip

I’ll admit, when I updated the layout of my website a couple of months ago, I thought it’d be a lot easier to keep up writing about new episodes of my favorite shows on a regular basis. It’s not, as it turns out. I think it has to do with me playing catch up all the time, thus seeing a whole week’s worth of episodes all in a few hours. It makes it hard to … Continue reading

HIMYM: The Best Man & The Naked Truth

While I may have missed the live debut of the first two episodes of season 7 of How I Met Your Mother because I was at the Cubs game last night, I have since had a chance to sit down and watch them. I can honestly say that I’m glad to have the show back and this season looks like it will be one of my favorites. If you haven’t seen the episodes yet, you … Continue reading
